About Hex 

Hector “Hex” Mariano is a seasoned Navy leader, recruiter, and mentor with over two decades of distinguished service in the U.S. Navy. As a Navy Reserve Officer Recruiter, Hex plays a pivotal role in shaping the future leadership of the Navy Reserve, leveraging more than 22 years of operational, administrative, and instructional experience to identify and develop high-potential candidates for service.

Throughout his military and civilian career, Hex has excelled in building teams, strengthening organizational culture, and leading with integrity under pressure. He has led units of more than 180 personnel, directed training and development programs, and implemented process improvements that significantly enhanced operational readiness and workforce engagement. His leadership in Navy talent acquisition has resulted in streamlined recruitment systems and a fortified pipeline of future officers ready to meet the Navy’s strategic objectives.

Beyond his Navy service, Hex brings extensive experience in federal investigations, leadership development, and conflict resolution through prior roles with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice. His diverse professional background informs a pragmatic and empathetic coaching style rooted in accountability, purpose, and trust.
